online poker germany
Online poker, laws, taxes and countries.?

Hi there,
I would like to know info from residents of countries like: USA, Canada, Germany, Great Britain and maybe some others about:
(Answer form)
1. Country
2. Is online poker allowed?(poker rooms like PokerStars, FullTilt, ..)
3. Taxes(if any), how many(%), special aspects, laws
4(if known). Taxes for non-residents(aliens)
5(if any). Additional info

I appreciate information from officials or people, who came through the way of paying taxes(felt this on his/her back) and ones, who can guarantee that this is 99,9% true info.

P.S. oh and please don’t give me the links on laws.. that’s why I created answer form, it’s just more understandable.

thanks in advance

1. USA
2. A few states have passed local (and basically unenforceable) laws against it, but only national laws are those preventing electronic fund transfers between gambling sites and US banks.
3. Gambling wins are taxable like any other form of income (and gambling losses deductible to a degree), with the rate dependent on total income for the individual. (That said, unless the amounts involved are large enough to merit note when deposited into a bank, it’s unlikely the IRS will know about them.)
4. Since most gambling sites are based outside the US, probably none unless the funds are deposited into a US bank (then answer 3 might apply, depending on circumstances).
