Poker games can be found practically anywhere on the Internet. At virtually anytime of the day there are thousands upon thousands of people enjoying a good game of online poker.
Finding a place to play online poker is easy, however winning an online poker tournament can sometimes prove to be as difficult as a million dollar challenge! Two reasons exist that explain the difficulty many players have in becoming successful in online-poker.
The Poker Sites
First and foremost, the pokersites use a series of computer generated programs to shuffle, deal out cards, and further determine winners in a hand. This series of seemingly random computer programs (sometimes referred to as poker algorithms) tend to skew true results that are normal in live poker.
These programs tend to unequally distribute cards in a manner that induces action by less experienced players. Simply put, draw-heavy boards added with the potential to win a big pot usually encourages more novice players to chase their flush and straight draws or to call with inferior hands.
The Inexperienced Player
The fact that there are so many inexperienced players is the second reason it is difficult to win at poker online. These players do not understand the more advanced techniques of the game, such as check raising, trapping and position plays, and therefore are less likely to fold what they believe is a winning hand.
Unfortunately, by combining the two, computer generated poker algorithms and inexperienced players, usually results in constant bad beats. The fact that nobody folds to a draw and that the programs are designed to make the draw, leaves the better players in a tough position to win.
